There are so many different forms of art you can get into! Playing an instrument, singing, producing music, drawing, sketching, painting, sculpting, dancing, making clothes, doing a fun makeup look, styling hair, creating a lookbook, and making a mood board are all wonderful examples of activities you can partake in to help boost your mood and creativity.

2. Do Something With Your Hands

Doing something with your hands can help open a new way of thinking. This doesn’t have to be something overly complex or complicated. Cooking, gardening, baking, lifting weights, doing puzzles, playing instruments, and even organizing can help your brain think abstractly, enhance your decision-making abilities, and of course- improve creativity and inspiration! Try to find some hobbies that include using your hands and your brain and it will support your creativity and brain health for years to come.

3. Dopamine Detox

A dopamine detox is a great way to restart your attention span, creativity, focus, and productivity. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is involved in our reward and pleasure system. The detox involves avoiding things that trigger this reward system. The detox is quite simple! It includes avoiding dopamine triggers for a certain amount of allotted time, it can be hours to days. This can include watching TV shows or movies, social media, fast food, etc. During this time, it’s good to reconnect with nature by hiking, camping, and going on walks! At the end of the detox, you’ll be able to feel way more mindful and creative.

4. Consume New Art

Consume new art! We know everyone has their favourite TV shows, movies, books, and genre of music but trying something new is always good! Branch out and dip your toes into things that you never really paid attention to before! For example, if you love listening to pop music, try listening to some new classic rock music! If you’re always listening to informational and educational podcasts, try listening to comedy ones instead! Trying new things can open up new ways of thinking and can help us learn about different perspectives on life. This will undoubtedly increase your creativity and can inspire you!

5. Journaling

Journaling is a great way to keep track of ideas and boost creativity. You can do daily journaling to recount your days, jot down ideas, and eternalize good memories. Your notes app is great to use or you can go traditional with a physical journal. Jotting down funny thoughts and interesting ideas instead of just letting them pass is a great way to generate even more ideas and additionally, boost creativity. There are also many journaling challenges you can find online as a surefire way to kickstart your journaling journey!

6. Learning Languages

Learning languages is an amazing way to boost your creativity! Aside from the beautiful experience of being able to communicate differently and learn about different cultures, learning a new language is famously known for helping your problem-solving skills, increasing creativity, and improving memory and decision-making abilities. You don’t have to become fluent but using apps like Duolingo to learn a few new words in a different language can go a far way over time! Watching movies and listening to music in different languages is also another cool way to introduce a new culture into your life.

7. Divert Your Routine

Change it up! You can boost your creativity and find new inspiration by simply diverting from your routine. It can be something simple like taking a different way home from work to something huge like changing your entire workout routine. Although consistency and discipline are great, it doesn’t mean that alteration from the same daily routine isn’t beneficial- especially when you feel like you’re in a rut.

Simple things you can change today can be: brushing your teeth with the opposite hand, taking a long way home, working out at a different time, cooking something new for dinner, listening to a new artist, taking 20 to doodle/sketch something, or do a quick journaling session!
